HOWDY! to new WOWD STATION MANAGER

Takoma Radio (WOWD-FM) is pleased to announce the promotion of Olivia Ellis Randolph to Station Manager. Olivia has been involved with Takoma Radio since the first planning meetings in 2011.  The station went on the air as WOWD in July 2016, and she was hired as Development Director in spring 2017. Under Olivia's leadership, fundraising is successful, collaborations are flourishing, and the station’s place in the community is secure.

Takoma Radio is the result of an FCC process in 2015 that gave airwaves to qualifying non-profits.  Historic Takoma Inc. applied and received a broadcast license for a non-profit community radio station on 94.3fm.  The call letters are WOWD. Over a hundred volunteer programmers have live shows featuring a wide variety of music and local information.

Olivia came to community radio as a second career. She has a BA in Cultural Anthology, French, and Film Studies from Duke University and an MA in Latin American Studies from University of Texas at Austin. She is a Fulbright Scholar (Anthropology,  Brazil 2002), and she’s a radio natural. "I am proud to support our prospering WOWD community as we live out our mission to build bridges and promote understanding. It’s exciting and fulfilling and I love what I hear on Takoma Radio.”

Olivia is co-host of Rise Up, a program for children and families that airs every other Saturday morning at 8am. She lives in Takoma DC with her husband and two children.
