MAKE MUSIC MONTGOMERY

WOWD partners with the Montgomery County Public Libraries for “Just for the Record – A Vinyl Day” on Saturday, April 18 at the Silver Spring Library.  

The event includes a live music competition: the Make Music Montgomery contest.  If you’re a Montgomery County resident, you can apply to participate in this contest by auditioning in person on March 2 or submitting a recording by March 8.

Interfaith-ish (alternate Wednesdays 9-10am) host Jack Gordon welcomed guests to WOWD to discuss.

Lobna “Luby” Ismail, president of Connecting Cultures LLC, describes her experience going on pilgrimage using a wheelchair; and Silas Calame, a student leader with Hillel at Gallaudet University, explains what the broader Jewish community can learn from centering deaf participants.

A HOT JAZZ NEW YEARS EVE

WOWD caps off the decade with A Hot Jazz New Year’s Eve, hosted by radio legend Rob Bamberger from 8pm to 1am on December 31. Rob will play his signature mix of vintage jazz, swing, and big band recordings from the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s, peppered with insights from the deep well of his musical knowledge.

Historic Takoma celebrates the history and heritage of Takoma Park. It is also WOWD’s parent organization.
