GOTTA DANCE

It’s time to shine your dancing shoes, because this Saturday, April 11th, WOWD brings you Dance Party Radio.

THREE back-to-back 2-hour blocks of music for your boogie-down pleasure.

Call a friend, tell your neighbors, and turn up the tunes on your porch or in your kitchen, wherever your dancefloor is these days. From 4-6PM, Brian plays shoe-shuffling selections on Roadside Attraction. From 6-8PM, Becky and Chris play hip-shaking beats on Roots & Wings. And from 8-10PM, DJ Demsey spins funky grooves on Divino Maravilhoso.

That's SIX hours of Dance Party Radio this Saturday night, with love from WOWD.

Turn it up, and get down.

WOWD & The Wammies

The finalists for the 2020 Wammie Awards were announced on February 12. WOWD's popular FORBIDDEN ALLIANCE show was nominated in their Music Media category.

Forbidden Alliance, co-hosted by Robbie and Weasel, provides a platform for DMV rock musicians to tell their stories, and to play their music and the music that influenced them.  It airs Sundays from 9 AM to Noon.  As noted in the Wammie nomination, "Weasel and Robbie have encyclopedic and historical knowledge of the local scene as well as the greater underground and pop music scenes . . . "

"We at WOWD are proud that Forbidden Alliance has been recognized for what it is -- an incredible and unique radio resource giving voice to DC rock & roll history," says Program Director Steve Hoffman.

Nominations were selected by public voting.  A panel of expert judges will determine the award winners, announced at a public gala event on Sunday, March 29 at the Lincoln, the culmination of  a "Wammie Weekend" celebration of DC musicians.  The Wammies are administered by The MusicianShip, a nonprofit group focused on music education for at-risk youth.
