Smithsonian AAPI Music Special

WOWD honors AAPI Heritage Month with a special presentation of Beckoning: A Playlist of AAPI Joy, Sorrow, Rage and Resistance, a music project the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center created in response to the unique toll that the pandemic has taken on the AAPI community.

Beckoning: A Playlist of AAPI Joy, Sorrow, Rage and Resistance is collaboration of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, Dr. Deborah Wong, who is an advisor for the Smithsonian Folkways Asian Pacific America Music series, and DJ and music archivist Richie Traktivist, whose mission is to bring visibility and sustainability to Asian American artists.

Hosted by WOWD’s Vivien Malig Mayhew of the Transmutation.
